The fascinating Crested black #macaque only lives on two islands. It's incredible how diverse our world is. And how rare so many #animals are. There is a delicate balance, to be sure.

" #Wild crested black macaques are found only on two islands in Indonesia. They are restricted to the tip of the northeastern-most peninsula of Sulawesi and on an island 345 miles from Sulawesi, Pulau Bacan, where they were introduced by humans in 1867 (Rosenbaum et al. 1998a). Though these populations have been geographically separated for almost 150 years, they exhibit the same morphological, ecological, and behavioral patterns (Rosenbaum et al. 1998a)."
